Northwood

Northwood is the code name for the latest version of Intel's Pentium 4 processor. The original Pentium 4 was code named Willamette and had a 0.18- micron line width. Northwood has a 0.13-micron line width and uses less power than Willamette. The smaller Northwood also means lower production prices for Intel and lower prices for consumers. Intel doubled Northwood's level 2 ( L2 ) cache to 512 KB. Northwood's socket type is Socket 478. The first Northwood processor released was the 2.2 gigahertz ( GHz ) Pentium 4.
