ownership tagAn ownership tag is a security feature on Compaq computers, consisting of an encrypt ed text string that displays at startup to uniquely identify a computer. The ownership tag works the same way that physical identification tags do: in the event of loss or theft, if the item is recovered, the rightful owner has absolute proof of ownership.
