Advertising and Sponsorships on Whatis.com
WhatIs.com is the fastest source of information about computers and the Internet on the Web. With over 5,000 individual encyclopedic topics and 12,000 hypertext links, WhatIs.com is also a constantly growing and evolving way to explore the language of cyberspace and master the unfamiliar. Launched in 1996 with ease- and speed-of-use in mind, WhatIs.com has been featured in Wired, Information Week, Entrepreneur, and many other publications. PC Magazine, POV, and The Web voted it among the top 100 Web sites in the world. It continues to be among the highest-rated sites on the user-rated Web 100. WhatIs.com gives users the power to search, explore word lists, follow learning paths, read book reviews, take an illustrated tour of the Internet, and use a growing number of fast references. WhatIs.com is one of a family of sites owned by TechTarget, whose other sites include Search400.com, SearchDomino.com, SearchStorage.com, and SearchWinIT.com.

Other Opinions
(Also see our Awards page.) In July, 1999, the editors of PC Magazine included us once again in their Top 100 Web Sites (one of Five Top Computing Sites). Recently, we've been favorably reviewed or featured by the ABA Journal, the Washington Times, the Telstra Big Pond Web site (Sydney, Australia), and Welcome Home to the Web (Toronto, Canada). In March, WhatIs.com creator Lowell Thing was interviewed on Investors On-Line, a television program broadcast in Canada. Home, Inc. Technology, The Web, P.O.V., and Wired Magazine have written about us in recent issues. We're listed on the user-rated "Web 100." We were an Information Week "Web Site of the Week, a "Site of the Day" on the Microsoft Network in the UK, a "Too Kool Site of the Day," and are a favorite Web site of the Internet broadcast, Net Talk Live! We've been mentioned or reviewed in Internet World (UK edition), Personal Computer (Australia), Chiropractic World (US), the Kansas City Star-Times, and the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

Ad Banner Requirements
We have a larger ad banner space for the standard 468 by 60 pixels ad banner. This ad is rotated on the WhatIs.com home page each time the user requests a new definition topic. We also have a smaller space on each definition page. These ads can be 120 by 90. The smaller ads also reach users who visit our non-frames site or who click on a single definition as the result of a search for Yahoo or another major search site.

Banner images can be in GIF or JPG format and should not exceed 15 KB in size. Your ad probably will need to be animated to get the attention it deserves. In most cases, animated ads should stop at a fixed image after three animation loops. Our aim is to achieve the highest click-through rate for you.
